Ashley McNamee anchors Live at Five and co-anchors News 25 at Six and News 25 Nightside every weekday.
Ashley began her broadcasting career in Peoria working as a reporter for HOI 19 News in Jan. 2008. When HOI 19 and News 25 joined forces in March 2009, Ashley continued reporting and started filling in as an anchor for both affiliates. In February 2010 Ashley became the weekend anchor for both affiliates. As the weekend anchor she would report during the week and produce and anchor seven newscasts each weekend.
In October 2011, Ashley began co-anchoring News 25 Nightside with Tom McIntyre. Within one month she began anchoring Live at Five and News 25 at Six and assumed responsibility of managing the newsroom at night.
Ashley’s strongest skill has always been her reporting. While she is not able to get into the field
every day, she continues to report in different ways. Her favorite stories are politics and crime related. Over the years her favorite story has been the investigation, impeachment and trial of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich. She also covered the day 17 tornados touched down across central Illinois. Her investigative reporting also uncovered Peoria’s first and only illegal swingers club.
She is a native of Denver, CO. She attended Arizona State University graduating in Dec. 2007 with honors and degrees in Journalism and Political Science. While attending ASU she reported for the Emmy-nominated show, "Cronkite NewsWatch." One of her stories earned her an appearance on MSNBC, for which she was featured and performed a live interview with Chris Jansing. She also earned an award from the Society of Professional Journalists for a story she did on the polygamous community in Colorado City, Arizona.
During college Ashley spent her summers interning for CNN in Washington D.C., KIRO 7 in Seattle, Washington and and MSNBC in New York. During the school year she also worked for the Arizona Legislature.
Ashley volunteers as a Foundation Board member for PARC, an organization working to enrich the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities. She also serves on the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army. She has worked with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Dress for Success, Boy Scouts for America, Peoria’s E.L.I.T.E program and Junior Achievement. She has also completed the FBI Citizen Academy.
