Laura Martin of Re/Max Unlimited has been named as the new president of the Peoria Area Assocation of Realtors board of directors.

Martin serves on many association committees at the state and local level. As board president, she will continue the association's efforts to watch over any proposed legislation that could affect a homeowner's private property rights or their ability to obtain a mortgage. She also is interested in the revitalization of the Downtown riverfront and warehouse district as well as supporting sustainable living issues, a news release states.

Other PAAR officers elected for the 2011-2012 year are John Purple of Purple Realty Inc. as president-elect; Tonya Burris of Traders Realty Corp. as treasurer; and Phil Harvey of Re/Max Unlimited as secretary.
PAAR has more than 800 Realtor and affiliate members.
