Jerk, California author Jonathan Friesen will speak at Lakeview Branch on Thursday, February 10 at 6:30 p.m. and will sell and sign books to benefit Friends of Peoria Public Library. Jerk, California features Sam Carrier who is one confused kid. The high-school senior has Tourette's Syndrome messing with his body, Naomi Archer messing with his heart, and a dead dad messing with his mind but it is his last chance to find out who he really is.

Author Jonathan Friesen taught public school for fourteen years and is an expert on bullying prevention and intervention, teen isolation and ostracism, and a host of disability issues. He is a captivating presenter who draws from his own life lived with Tourette Syndrome & Epilepsy. He is the recipient of the American Library Association’s 2009 Schneider Family Book Award and the Library Media Connection’s Editor’s Choice Award for his debut novel, Jerk, California. His other books are Rush and The Last Martin, which will be out in March. The program is free and open to the public.
