On May 25th my six year old great niece Taryn was diagnosed with a brain tumor the size of a lemon in the back of her head. They went in immediately and put a shunt in to relieve pressure from her brain. Two days later she had a 6 hour surgery to remove the cancerous tumor. Unfortunately the cancer has spread down her spinal cord. She has “several” cancer spots on her spinal cord but one in the L5-L6 area that will leave her paralyzed if it grows. The type of caner Taryn has is called Medulloblastoma. This cancer affects children and has a high risk of reoccurring. Her survival rate is 50%. She is taking INTENSE chemo and it is taking a toll on her poor little body.
Long story short, my great niece is a VERY sick little girl and has a long battle to fight. The family is asking you to donate blood in honor of this precious little girl because she will need SEVERAL transfusions throughout her treatments. We appreciate your kindness and generousity and hope to see you on the 15th.
