Fun Facts About Illinois Frontier Life
The Museum is pleased to welcome back Dr. Dan Guillory, Emeteritus Professor of English at Millikin University for his program, "Fun Facts About Illinois Frontier Life", based on his new book People & Places in the Land of Lincoln.
How much did eggs, potatoes, and a "store bought" dress cost in 1835. Learn the answers to this and other questions as well as hear a performance of an 1860 presidential campaign song and view a display of typical English China from the period.
Contrary to popular belief, most Illinois settlers did not live in primitive conditions. According to Dr. Guillory's new book, they ate better, read more books and newspapers, and lived in better homes than was previously supposed.
Come out and join the fun during Farmer's Market and learn fun facts about frontier life in Illinois.
This program is FREE and open to the public.
