The Peoria Ballet is continuing its annual tradition of capturing the holidays with bringing the magical production to the Peoria Civic Center stage on December 10 and 11.

Director Servy Gallardo is a native of Venezuela where he was a principal dancer with the National Ballet of Venezuela. Additionally, he was a principal dancer with numerous ballet companies in the United States and has been nationally recognized for his award winning choreography.

This year, the Peoria Ballet’s production of Nutcracker is bigger and better than ever. Gallardo brings together the most amazing talent of 110 Peoria Ballet Academy students, other local dancers, and four guest artists to present the traditional and cherished holiday story. Travel back in time with Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as they embark on a journey through the magical Kingdom of Sweets.

Members of Heartland Festival Orchestra, under the direction on David Commanday, bring the wonderful Tchaikvosky score to life. The Nutcracker Treble Chorus is directed by Julie A. Clemens and comprised of students from Illinois Central College and young singers throughout the Peoria area.

The magical holiday ballet is guaranteed to lift your heart. Performances take place at 7:30 P.M. on December 10 and 2:00 P.M. on December 11. For tickets, call the Peoria Civic Center at 673-3200 or Ticketmaster.
