Event Description
On Thursday,April 12 from 4-6 p.m., Peoria County Farm Bureau and Living Earth Farm are partnering with Methodist’s Spring Farmers Market to host The Rise of the Peoria Locavore Meet and Greet. Attendees will learn why purchasing local foods is important to Peoria’s economy, environment and health. The Meet and Greet will be located in the Methodist Medical Center Atrium at 900 Main Street in Peoria.
In addition,attendees can buy local produced breads, pastas, vegetables, baked goods, andobtain information about local producers. A locavore is a person interested ineating food locally produced. Local food is food grown within 100 miles of its point of purchase or consumption. The event is an opportunity for the Peoria community to meet local farmers and see where their food is originating.
This eventis open to the public. Free parking is available in the Atrium’s front entrancesurface lot
