Backspace Collective is pleased to welcome Paul Komada for a solo exhibition running through October and November, 2013. Paul was born in Seattle, Washington and raised in Yokohama, Japan. Between 2003-06, Paul worked at a Buddhist temple as a monk in Tokyo, Japan. Today, he lives and works in an artist loft in Pioneer Square in Seattle. Paul was trained as a painter of geometric abstraction, but in the past few years has incorporated knitting into the paintings. The impetus for this change was the birth of his son; he started knitting as an alternative to painting when he became a stay-at-home dad. Now, he combines knitting and painting. His exhibition at Backspace includes an installation created on-site titled, The President, the Judge, and the Yak.
