Beginning and intermediate/advanced workshops on playing hammered dulcimer will be offered on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the Dickson Mounds Museum.

Dale C. Evans, an accomplished player, teacher and builder of hammered dulcimers, will present the beginners workshop from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Beginners will learn tuning basics, origin and history of hammered dulcimers and simple tunes. The intermediate/advanced workshop will be taught by Judy Schmidt from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. July is a former National Hammered Dulcimer Champion and past Hickory Ridge Coffeehouse performer. Students will learn chords and tunes as well as sources for learning materials.

There is a $20.00 registration fee for each workshop. Registration should be made by July 23, 2007. For a registration form and further information or to reserve a dulcimer, call Steven Endsley at 309.668.2362.

The museum is open free to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day. Tours and special programs are available for groups with reservations.
