All proceeds of the Maka Maka benefit the Peoria Friendship House. Friendship House is located on Peoria’s near North Side and, for over 50 years, has been providing some of the poorest families in our city with food, clothing, assistance with rent and utility bills, well-baby needs, helping children with their school work and providing seniors with safe companionship. Friendship House is the home of the Dress for success program and the fiscal agent of the RSVP (Retired Senior and Volunteer Program) which organized over 1200 senior citizens who generated over 142,000 hours of volunteer time to 100 non-profit sites in the community.

There were over 500 people at last year’s Maka Maka race and over $14,000.00 was raised for Peoria’s Friendship House.
