Come support literacy by walking through the streets of literature: Rhett Butler Blvd., Curious George Way, Anne of Green Gable Place, and many more at Common Places 21st annual Walk for Reading

Two routes will be available: a 5K Novel walk, and a 1 mile short story? walk, both routes encompassing a stop at the Lincoln Branch Library.

Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m., with the Walk starting at 8:30 a.m. Registration is $20 for individual and $30 for family. Sponsorship is encouraged, as well as team participation.

The goal is to raise $37,000 to benefit Common Places after school youth tutoring and adult literacy programs.

Festivities following the Walk will include: a free brunch for walk participants and volunteers; awarding of prizes for individuals and team with the most sponsorship; silent auction with items for all ages; and, a bake sale by Common Place?s adult learners.

Common Place is a not-for-profit family learning center located on Peoria's South Side. Common Place offers after school homework help and enrichment activities for children grades K-12, summer youth programs for children ages 8-15 years, and adult one-on-one tutoring and small reading and math group classes.
