Peoria, Ill. -- some local students got out of class Friday to see some magic, but they also learned a lesson about following their dreams.

800 kindergarten through sixth grade students from District 150 schools got to see an illusionist today.

The entertainer shared his life journey with the students.

He also told the students that his success came from working hard in school.

"Whether it's something like illusions or running a business, you still have to have an education in order to be successful," Chama St. Louis, Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce.

The students were also visited by Lt. Governor candidate Paul Vallas.

He also spoke to the students about the importance of education.
