A restaurant in Henry is offering meals with a view.
The Landings at Henry Harbor is on the Illinois River.
Eric Shangraw is there for lunch in this week's You Gotta Eat.
By road, the Landings at Henry Harbor is right off Route 18. By water its at Illinois River Mile 196.
No matter how you arrive, you'll find a restaurant by day. They have burgers, sandwiches and dinners on the menu.
"It is casual and the food is delicious. I had sweet potato fries. My sister invited me. I love it!" said customer Dorothea Nenne.
"I just love the setting by the river. And I enjoy the barges and the boats and the wildlife and the food is good," said customer Angeline Hall.
But not long after the sun goes down it appears the little place on the harbor turns a little wild. That's my conclusion after eye the large collection of colorful braziers hanging from the rafters.
"None of them are mine! I was just saying maybe they didn't pay their bill!" joked customer Linda Porch.
"Some of them get autographed and then tossed up there. I would come before nine o'clock if you are going to bring the kids," said waitress and bartender Rebecca Hall.
Photographer Doug Smith had the rather tame Ribeye steak sandwich. It came with sauteed onions on top and a plate of sweat potato fries with butter sauce on the side. He said the sandwich was fine, the fries not as good as Captain Ron's two weeks ago.
I had The Big Fish sandwich. It is a huge batter cod fillet on a bun with lettuce, tomato and onion. The sandwich was hot and mild, not too much of that fishy flavor. We both enjoyed lunch soaking up the sun and gazing out toward the water.
We played a quick round of bags. I scored a triple on my first attempt. Beginners luck. Doug, no luck.
Our bill, $22.50 plus tip. Depending on your appetite for adventure, come during the day to feed your hunger, and at night for something completely different.
