BLOOMINGTON, Ill -- The restaurant has had a view of Miller Park since it was build over 75 years ago.

For nearly 20 years, Parkview Inn Food and Pub has been owned by the McCormick family.

In that time, they've gotten to know their customers well.

"The more the merrier," says owner, Rick McCormick. "Come in, we'll treat you right. Come in, have a beer, have a soft drink, a pizza, whatever you want."

And people do want pizza.

It's what Kyle Lennon has been hooked on since his first visit.

"The sauce is a slightly sweeter sauce. Its really good, and I enjoy the crust. It's not too flaky, but it's just right."

At the end of the bar, you'll see a plaque that reads, "Linda's Spot" from when she owned it with her husband Dick McCormick.

They sold the pub to their son Rick with some professional advice.

"Me and my wife kept going, 'Be friendly to the customers and talk to them all the time,' Dick says. "And they'll keep coming back if you put out good food."

"I love talking to everybody," Rick agrees. "The most important part to me is meeting someone new, talking to them, finding out what they're doing, how they're doing, if they're happy. That's about it, make them feel at home."

Photographer Larry Foulk and I were welcomed immediately.

Larry had a thick crust pizza supreme.

He said it's his favorite style of sweet sauce and literally said, "One last slice" to three more slices.

I had the fried chicken and mashed potatoes with chicken gravy.

The chicken is fried in peanut oil with crisp skin and tender meat.

Of course, I had to have pie.

If you're a fan of pumpkin, you'll be even more impressed with the home-made sweet potato pie.

Hands down, it's some of the best I've ever had.

Two meals (one being a 12-inch pizza), two drinks and two slices of pie came to $38.74 plus tip.

If you're around Bloomington, or even if you're not, come in for the food and stick around to meet some of people.

Parkview Inn Food and Pub is at 1003 Morris Avenue in Bloomington.

The restaurant is open from 6AM until 10PM daily.

The bar is open until 2AM on weekends, and customers especially recommend karaoke on Friday nights.
