PEORIA, Ill. -- On this weeks You Gotta Eat, we go to a restaurant in Campus-town, a place where most business is aimed at co-eds.
However, the Fieldhouse Bar and Grill has found a way to expand its horizons.
One of the many benefits of the Fieldhouse Bar and Grill in Peoria is its central location. The bar and grill is easy to get to, not far from downtown, and right across from Bradley University.
"I like the atmosphere. It's kind of a great sports bar. They have plenty of TVs."
"It was really good. Chicken is great, fresh lettuce, good stuff."
Doug Smith and I prepared our appetites with an order of pretzel sticks with melted cheese and honey mustard and some mozzarella sticks and marinara.
The pretzel sticks are soft inside with a crisp, golden brown crust and just enough salt to accent the flavor of fresh baked bread.
Doug and I agree that pretzel sticks are reason enough to come back some day.
For lunch, Doug tried the grilled pork-chop with onions, but he held off on the pepperjack cheese that normally comes with it.
I had the cowboy burger, which I recommend highly, but I don't recommend wearing a dress shirt. The burger is stacked with cheddar cheese, slices of bacon, a few onion rings and barbecue sauce, so be sure to ask for some extra napkins. For two soft drinks, two meals, and two sides we paid $42.64.
"We'll remember your name, or what you drank, or what you always order. That's kind of what we do," said Molly Hughes, Co-owner of the Fieldhouse Bar and Grill.
The Fieldhouse Bar and Grill is at 1200 West Main Street in Peoria. They open at 11 a.m., 7 days a week.
