If you Google "breakfast" and "Peoria, Illinois" one of the responses you get is: LePeep, the oddly named little restaurant which serves only breakfast and lunch.

LePeep came to Peoria about eight years ago, replacing a Chinese restaurant at the same location.

"We come here two or three times a week. Why? The food is very good, and the waitress that usually waits on us--well, all the waitresses are very good," said LePeep regular Joyce Schoolman.

And, over at what's clearly marked as the "worst seat in the house", is Dixie Gray, another regular.

"These rolls, they're really good. I'm not going to have one because I'm on a diet, but they give them to you free if you sit in this spot here," said Gray.

LePeep's menu says it offers a "comfortable, relaxed atmosphere at an affordable price". Its part of a franchise chain in several states, but masks its "franchise-ness" with comfortable surroundings and quiet background music.

Since photographer Larry Foulk and I were getting breakfast, I ordered a spinach and ham omelet. It comes with fruit or potato (I had potato) and an English muffin.

Larry ordered the Homestead Breakfast -biscuits and gravy with chives, potatoes and scrambled eggs.

My omelet was very nice - did I mention the cream cheese mixed with the eggs, spinach and bacon. Why didn't I know of this combination before?

Larry mixed the ingredients of his "Homestead Breakfast" for a gravy smothered feast.

We pronounced it all good.

Our bill: with drinks, $22.34 dollars, plus tip.

LePeep is located at 7501 N. University and serves breakfast and lunch from 6:30 AM til 2 PM, Monday to Friday. Weekends they stay open late -til 2:30 PM.
