Tom McIntyre is on something of a mission this week on "You Gotta Eat".

He went to OSF St. Francis Medical center, where there are all kinds of medical specialties....but his visit to the hospital today is because there's a cafeteria here....

Mac says "That's because I've been diagnosed with GERD, which sounds worse than it is, Gastro-Esophegial Reflux Disease. Acid reflux has damaged my throat and stomach, so the doctor has prescribed a limited diet and to lose weight, and that's why I'm at the OSF St. Francis medical Center cafeteria."

My guide is Dietitian Golda Ewalt. She knows fatty and fried foods, chocolate, caffeine and a lot of things that made the majority of my diet are now off my menu,

She's confident she's got something that's low-cal, tastes good and is good for me.

" What I want you to try is a veggie-burger with a orange ginger dressing which comes on a thin wheat bread. It's low in calories and good for you."

And for those who want to eat low-cal and in a hurry, the cafeteria has a daily special of 500 calories or less.

So, I went for the veggie-burger. And blueberry yogurt, a banana and water.

Golda had a turkey and cheese sandwich and a smoothie, and a diet cola, because she can.

OK, the orange ginger sauce makes the burger and Golda says it could add flavor to a lot of other things, fish and chicken for example. I'm going to try it. Because losing weight is one way of treating this disease.

Besides, I found this photo of me 20 years and 30 pounds ago. I could look like that again....minus the big glasses.

Oh, our meal cost $14.26 for both of us. Pretty cheap for a healthy meal.
