Kaydee Kats is located on Prospect Road in Peoria Heights--and specializes in burgers and pizza. Don't think that means there's a limited menu. You can build your own burger or pizza, by choosing from a variety of items.

Kaydee Kat's is named, by the way, after Kaydee Couri --whose father came up with the idea of a gourmet burger place for Peoria.

Colleen Creson, manager says "there's nothing in area that has the combination of burgers and pizza, and we wanted to have fresh ingredients.'"

Photographer Joe Bennet and I decided to stick with burgers. The signature meat is a mixture of angus beef and smoked bacon.

"We worked on it to get the right combination of beef and smoked bacon."

I got my one-third pound burger on a multi-grain bun, with pepperjack cheese, a vidalia onion, with mayo and topped with pecan smoked bacon.

Joe had the half-pound burger with american cheese and lettuce, grilled onion and pineapple, tomato, bbq sauce, teriyaki sauce, spicy brown mustard and topped with bacon.

Both come with endless french fries.

Let's cut to the chase. These are good and tasty sandwiches. If you can't build a burger to suit's your fault.

How good are they? The ghost of Gotta Eat past-- Eric Shangraw--was having his lunch there too.

Our bill--with soft drinks--came to $26.89 cents..

Kaydee Kats is open 11 to 9 daily.
