PEORIA, Ill. -- PV-II is located on Allen Road in Peoria. It's place for power lunches, casual get-togethers.. or in this case, a ladies birthday bash.
Why the name PV-II? Because Josh Utech was the Chef at Ponte Veccichio restaurant in Peoria. When it closed, backers urged Josh and wife Amy to open an eatery with a similar menu. They couldn't use the Ponte Veccichio name: hence: PV-II.
I ordered a cup of potato and leek soup to start. It was delivered warm, thick, and tasty.
For my main course, I ordered a swordfish sandwich. You can get a half-sandwich with the cup of soup...but I figured, hey-take half back to work for dinner tonight. I'm not sure if it was the goat cheese, the Swordfish - or the lemon/herb mayo, but I ate all of it.
Photographer Doug Smith went for the Filet Mignon sandwich. No, he really went for it. He said he wasn't sure if it was the meat, the caramelized onion, the bread or a combination of all three...but he gave it an "A".
Since we'd avoided anything vaguely Italian, so far, we decided on a Cannoli and some chocolate gelato for dessert. It was all good.
Our bill came to $35.28 plus tip.
PV-II is open for lunch from 11-2 Monday through Friday, Dinners Monday through Saturday from five to nine.
