This week on "You Gotta Eat", Mac is dining light....sort of.
It's a visit to Sweet Cece's in Peoria.
Sweet CeCe's is located in Junction City. The franchise operation run locally by the Yoder family has been open a couple of months now.
Alyssa Yoder was on hand when we dropped in. She said the family got interested in the franchise through a sister who went to college in Nashville, Tennessee.
"And we were like, we didn't know anything about frozen yogurt, so we went down there to check it out," said Yoder.
We said last week we were going to try and eat...healthier...here on You Gotta Eat. Like yogurt. With gummy bears and chocolate peanut M & M's.
"Well, it's all on what you put on it," said Yoder. "You can make it as healthy as you want. Or you can make it not as healthy".
Well, you can guess which option I chose. First step: choose your base flavor.
"We have 72 different flavors, and they rotate every week," said Yoder. "We will always have a chocolate, vanilla and the original tart. And, we'll always have a sorbet and a sugar-free option."
And yes, I added chocolate M&M's and a little caramel.
Doug, on the other hand, tried to be a little healthy and mixed chocolate and vanilla and added some fresh fruit. And some sprinkles and whipped cream. And it was very good, thank you.
(OK, we're being a little silly here.)
We could have eaten a lot healthier here, if we had chosen the proper options. And that's what Sweet Cece's is: an option, an alternative for lunch to going through the fast food drive-through, or eying that big bag of potato chips on your desk.
Our bill was $12.54. Sweet CeCe's is soon to open another shop in Campustown near Bradley University.
