East Peoria, Ill -- "The Galley" is located in East Peoria's East Port Marina. It's an unpretentious little bar and grill serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We got there for lunch, and the crowd on hand ranged from seniors to young people. Guys finishing off a second --or third-- cup of coffee before heading back to work.

There are some big screen TV's -set on mute -and some quiet county and western for background music.

"Do you have a specialty, something you do better than other places?"
"Oh yeah, our wraps"
"The Momma Wraps?"
"Yes, they're chicken. You can have it grilled or buffalo style. Mild or wild. It goes well with our fries, our cheesy fries".

Next time I'll ask for the house specialty before I order.

I'd already picked out a grilled blackened chicken sandwich with fries for lunch. Photographer Larry Foulk went for the tenderloin. A reduced size one after I made some off-hand comment previously about his ability to eat something larger than his head.

We had the fried mushrooms for starters. Well, I had them. Larry was shooting video. They were hot and good with some dipping sauce.

The blackened grilled chicken was juicy with just a little spice to it, the fries crispy, the coleslaw tasty.

Larry polished off his tenderloin and his fries, and pronounced it good.

We'll be back to this laid-back eatery in the see if the wraps live up to their billing.

Our bill $26.19 with soft drinks for both.

The Galley is located at 2501 N Main in East Peoria --serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are closed on Sundays.
