A restaurant near Lewistown is catering to the travelers who pass through Fulton County.

Eric Shangraw take along a special guest for lunch at The River Crossroad Restaurant, in this week's You Gotta Eat.

There's not much near the junction of Routes 24 and 78 in Fulton County, except the River Crossroad Restaurant.

The little culinary oasis is clean and simply decorated with spacious seating a filling home-ooked meals.

Kathryn Cain is the brains and brawn behind the operation. Her business. Her recipes.

"Everyone around here likes fried food. I came up with the breading for the tenderloin and fried catfish. We sell a lot of catfish," said Cain.

"They have nice general menu with a big selection. You can get sandwiches. Today we are splitting appetizers. The prices are reasonable," said customer Steve Moore while eating with his wife.

We brought along News 25 producer Jen Griffin to celebrate her final days in the newsroom. Jen's moving on to another TV job in Minneapolis. She and I focused on the Spinach and Artichoke toasted ravioli as an appetizer. We enjoyed bathing the nicely breaded little pasta pillows in warm marina.

Photographer Larry Faulk had the Cheesy Italian Beef. We're told it is a Fulton County favorite. Now Larry knows why.

Jen had the pork tenderloin. It is breaded in herb butter and deep fried. She sliced it in half for better managed consumption.

I had the Reuben. The fresh marble-rye bread was a little over-portioned in relation to the sliced roast beef. But still tasty.

Larry finished with a frosted brownie Sunday with chocolate drizzle. Jen and I each had strawberry rhubarb pie. Mighty fine slice of pie baked in Canton.

Our bill: $40.88 plus tip. We went next door to check out the little craft shop. Sniffed some homemade candles that smelled like brown sugar before hitting the road.

Eating in the middle of nowhere never tasted so good.

The River Crossroad Restaurant is open seven days a week. Breakfast served all day on Sunday.
