PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill -- During the summer we take the time to check in with our One Class at a Time winners. Wednesday we checked in with Mr. Adam Brown at St. Thomas School.

The new band teacher was struggling without a percussion section, so he decided to use his grant money to purchase a bass drum.

Mr. Brown's enthusiasm for music has resulted in band class going from three students to more than 30.

Mr. Brown said the best part about getting the grant money is what it led to.

"Right after we got our grant, it got some momentum going. Parents stepped up and asked how to help. So that's where the tuba came from. It started a whole process with bass clarinet and extra donations. it's really been kinda nice," said Brown.

The school is always looking for more instruments, if you have something to donate just get in touch with the school.
