A teacher at Manual High School reports some good news after receiving her One Class At A Time check last year.

Math Intervention Specialist Nicole Chenoweth received the $1,000 check last fall.

She has spent every penny on a new program for students struggling in math.

Chenoweth says the interactive resources like white boards and economy-based games have already shown remarkable results.

Chenoweth says, "I'm pleased to say our students that have been in the intervention group have increased their math scores. 96% of them have, so this program has been incredibly successful this year. The average was 1.6 grade levels and that's only in a 3 or 4 month time period, so we are just very excited to see the results that have happened."

Chenoweth adds other math teachers have been borrowing the new materials, leading to an overall improvement in Manual's math scores.

She plans to expand the math intervention program next year.
