The education of our children is a priority and concern for everyone living in the Heart of Illinois. Our news coverage is full of the financial problems school districts face, from closing and consolidating schools, to increasing class sizes...the list goes on and on. In fact, the cuts have gone so deep many teachers are digging into their own pockets to buy needed supplies for their classrooms.

So, what's the solution? Does the responsibility lie in the hands of the teachers? Parents? Taxpayers?

The truth is, if we all share responsibility for the problems...and the solutions. That's why we believe it's time to make more than every second count — it's time to make Every Classroom Count.

HOI 19 Kids Count and CEFCU will award $1,000 grants bi-weekly to Heart of Illinois classrooms. If you know of classroom that is in need of money for supplies, classroom tools or other educational necessities then apply for an HOI 19 Kids Count One Class at a Time Grant. Grant application forms can also be picked up at WHOI-TV during normal business hours.

Preschool to High School classrooms are eligible, and must be located in one of the following counties: Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, McLean, Fulton, Mason, Stark, Marshall, Putnam, or Livingston County. All grant applications will be evaluated and awarded by our Kids Count Advisory Board comprised of educators, community leaders, and CEFCU and HOI 19 staff committee members.
