Ella Maxwell talks to Garry Moore about the Amaryllis, which is a wonderful plant to give as a gift. It is a tender bulb, that with a resting period, you can yield beautiful flowers year after year. Each is graded by different sizes and takes about 4-6 weeks to bloom. The bulbs are available late Fall or early Winter. Other than watering, there isn’t anything else needed for maintenance. Just tear off the old leaves are start watering and then you have flowering during Holiday/winter time. There are many colors – red, pink or white – and they are excellent gifts for folks in a nursing home.
