If you are thinking about having a baby, losing weight may help increase your chances of getting pregnant.

According to the March of Dimes, 2 out of 3 women are overweight in the U.S.

Doctors say obesity can cause a host of problems, starting with infertility.

"Excess weight can prevent the conception of a child and she will have a healthier pregnancy without many of the medical complications we see that excess weight brings such as diabetes, hypertension, miscarriages, babies that are born too large for gestational age, still born and even death,” said Dr. Karen Cooper of the Cleveland Clinic.

Studies show obesity during pregnancy can also cause birth defects, premature birth, injury during birth and put a child at an increased risk for childhood obesity.
