MORTON- Owners of a Morton Business will have to wait a little longer than they expected to open their restaurant following an early morning fire Wednesday.

Bob and Joan Dittmer were planning on opening Maxine's, a Restaurant on Main Street in Morton, in about three weeks. That will be put off, due to a fire that broke out around two Wednesday morning.

There was water and smoke damage throughout the structure, but the second floor and attic were hit the hardest.

"It looks like most of the second floor has to be gutted and the roof, so we kind of have to start from scratch on the second floor, which is really disheartening since the second floor was completely finished" said Owner and Chef manager Joan Dittmer.

Dittmer says she and her husband plan to meet with their insurance agent Thursday. They hope to open Maxine's in August.
