PEORIA, Ill. – The Illinois State Dental Association will be hosting a free dental care event at the Peoria Civic Center on June 20 and 21.

The Mission of Mercy, or “MOM,” will feature more than 1,000 dentists, hygienists, assistants and students who will provide more than $1 million worth of free dental care to those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to get it.

“We are prepared to see 1,000 patients per day, and hope to accommodate more if we can,” said Dr. Timm Schwartz, a MOM Co-Chair. “In order to treat as many patients in the best way possible, the patient’s priority condition will be served first.”

Doors will open at 6 a.m. No appointments or pre-registrations will be taken, so it is first-come, first-served.

Fillings, extractions and cleanings are being given emphasis. There are no income eligibility requirements.

Organizers recommend you bring a list of medications and something to pass the time.
