According to Governor Pat Quinn, the rates for the state's health insurance plans to be offered through the Affordable Care Act will be lower than expected.

When the Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace opens for business on October 1 Quinn says the premiums should be more than 25-percent lower than the estimates made by the federal government.

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin said Quinn's announcement shows that Republican efforts to defund Obamacare and shutdown the government are irresponsible.

"The Senators who support the House position are playing high stakes poker with other people's money. To shut down the government is disastrous,” Durbin said.

We will have more on the Illinois Health Plan rates on Wednesday during week six of our ACA in Illinois series.
