A flu and pneumonia vaccine clinic will be held this Wednesday for residents of Knox County.

On October 19, the Knox County Health Department will offer flu and pneumonia vaccine on a walk-in basis. Those interested may attend any time between 1 pm and 4 pm at the Knoxville Fire Department, 137 North Public Square.

"The absolute best way to prevent the flu is to receive a flu vaccination," said Heidi Britton, Public Health Administrator for the Knox County Health Department.

The CDC now recommends everyone 6 months and older to get the flu shot.

The cost of the vaccine is $30 for adults and $10 for children; Medicaid, Medicare Part B, All Kids, and cash or check will be accepted. The Knox County Health Department will not accept Humana or AARP plans.

Additionally, pneumonia shots will be on hand for $70.

Questions may be directed to the Knox County Health Department at 309-344-2224.
