BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- This year's Bloomington-Normal Race for the Cure Honorary Chair has been named.

Mia Smith, breast cancer survivor and women's basketball coach at Illinois Wesleyan University, was named 2013 Honorary Chair for the third annual race.

During last year's season, Smith was in the midst of her treatment, yet led the IWU Titans to their first NCAA Division III national championship. In 2012, she was named 2012 Russell Athletic/Women's Basketball Coaches Association National Coach of the Year for Division III as well as the 2012 Schelde North America/Women's DIII News Coach of the Year.

According to Smith, the key to her success in overcoming breast cancer was surrounding herself with her basketball players and family and friends.

Blo-No's third annual Komen Race for the Cure will be held Saturday, September 14.
