Not too late to get a flu shot

December 10, 2013 Updated Dec 10, 2013 at 11:06 AM CDT

The state of Illinois is urging everyone six months and older to get a flu shot this week.

It is "Vaccinate Illinois Week."

Department of Public Health Director Doctor Lamar Hasbrouck said flu activity usually peaks in January, so it's not too late to get a shot.

Last flu season resulted in at least six deaths, one in McLean County.

Flu shots are available at local health departments, pharmacies and health care providers.
