OTTAWA, Ill. -- The Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center officially opened under a new name Tuesday: OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center.

The intent to integrate Ottawa Regional Hospital into the OSF family was first announced on October 14, 2010.

"...much study and deliberation were devoted to developing our initial Letter of Intent," said Sister Judith Ann, Chairperson of OSF Healthcare system and Major Superior to The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis. "Together, we have successfully completed this multi-year journey and now we can celebrate Ottawa Regional becoming OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center."

Buildings on the campus of OSF Saint Francis were blessed Tuesday by Bishop Daniel Jenky and 13 area priests in an official ceremony.
