The Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity, Inc. (PCCEO) Weatherization program has begun its 2011 program year and is accepting applications for Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program, which helps make homes more energy efficient, thereby decreasing energy costs.
Weatherization work on homes may include sealing of cracks, attic and wall insulation, repair of windows and doors, and repair or replacement of heating units.
Funding through the America Recovery and Reinvestment Act has allowed us to increase the number of homes weatherized.
Last year, with ARRA funds we were able complete over 360 homes.
This year we anticipate completing 500 homes through the Weatherization Program.
Applicants must meet income guidelines, which are currently at 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
Sample Income Eligibility guidelines are:
Household Size Annual Income
Certified staff will assess the home by conducting pressure testing and diagnostics to determine building tightness limits.
Using blower door equipment, which measures airflow, the leakiness of the home will be determined.
This will determine what work can be done to save the most energy. Weatherized homes are inspected to make sure the work is correct and complete.
Interested households should contact the PCCEO Energy Services Department at (309) 671-3900 for complete eligibility guidelines and to apply.
