CHICAGO, Ill. -- A Chicago law firm has filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of millions of Illinoisans whose privacy and medical information may have been compromised.

In July, four computers were stolen from Advocate Medical Group's offices in Park Ridge.

The suit alleges that the health care group was negligent in protecting private data and failed to use encryption and other basic security measures.

As a result, up to four million patients' names, addresses, social security numbers, dates of birth-- even health insurance information were taken.

The lawsuit was filed in Cook County on behalf of a mother and daughter who were patients and whose personal information was compromised.
