Local State employees and retirees got the opportunity today to voice their concerns over an upcoming shift in healthcare providers.

State Representative David Leitch hosted a hearing Monday after his office was bombarded with phone calls from constituents and medical professionals upset over the Quinn administration's choice to end long-time contracts with both Health Alliance and Humana....the state's two current insurance providers.

Both providers have filed protests with the executive ethics commission and garnered the support of numerous lawmakers.

"This isn't a cost saving measure for the state. It's going to cost the state more money," says State Representative, Mike Unes. "It really makes no sense and I'm just so thankful that so many people could be here today that hopefully we ca get word back to the governor that this was the wrong decision."

State employees will have until the end of the month to choose a new provider.
