PEORIA, Ill. -- Unity Point Health Methodist and Proctor Health Care are exploring a partnership.

The possible joint venture was announced in similar statements by both hospitals on Wednesday.

The statement reads, "The healthcare industry is going through dramatic changes-nationally, regionally and locally".

Both hospitals stated they are "evaluating future partnership opportunities to assess whether they will help us achieve our goal of meeting the healthcare needs of the communities we serve, in a way that is consistent with the Methodist/Proctor Mission, Vision and Values."

Earlier this year, Proctor indicated it was exploring an affiliation with OSF Healthcare systems. Sources said that deal fell through.
