Research links acetaminophen and ADHD

February 24, 2014 Updated Feb 24, 2014 at 5:33 PM CDT

A preliminary study suggests pregnant women who take the common pain reliever acetaminophen may increase the risk of ADHD and other problems in their children.

Researchers in Denmark studied nearly 65,000 children and mothers.

They found kids had a higher risk of ADHD behaviors by age 7 when their mothers had taken the pain killer.

Experts say the research does not prove any cause and effect.
