EAST PEORIA, Ill. -- Some East Peoria High School students are giving back to their community this summer by hosting a blood drive.

The 7th annual Rock n' Roll up Your Sleeve Drive took place at the Peoria Riverplex on Tuesday.

American Red Cross say this time of year, they need all blood types.

Blood drive President Sarah Cregger says donating blood while in high school serves as a good example.

"I think a high schooler should really give because if you start giving when you're younger you really get into the habit of it and you realize how much of a difference it really makes," said Cregger.

Thanks to the donors, the students were able to collect 85 units of blood.

If you missed Tuesday's blood drive, there are many taking place this summer. Visit to find one near you.
