Study shows pregnancy stroke risk continues after birth

It is known that pregnant women have an increased risk for stroke but new research suggests that risk continues after giving birth.

Researchers studied more than one million mothers who delivered at a California hospital.

They found the risk for a blood clot was ten times higher than normal in the first six weeks after Delivery and two times higher during weeks seven to twelve.
