WEST PEORIA, Ill. -- U.S. Representative Cheri Bustos made a stop at Heddington Oaks nursing home on Monday to meet with area seniors and discuss Medicare enrollment.

Bustos received a tour of the facility and met with workers. She also spoke with some residents.

The congresswoman said she is hoping to eliminate any confusion regarding open enrollment for Medicare and the Affordable Care Act.

"They are completely and separate programs,” Bustos said. “Those who are on Medicare go through the typical Medicare open enrollment process. The ACA is totally separate. So we want to make sure seniors understand that and I think it's an important message to get out."

Medicare open enrollment began on October 15.
