PEORIA, Ill. -- A movement is underway to improve birthing experiences in the United States. The national rally spread across 100 cities Monday, including Peoria.

This small group gathered near two local hospitals in Peoria, calling attention to the frequent use of c-sections given to women in labor.

Deanna Todd is a mother of three. All births were c-sections at the will of her doctors. Todd says after doing her research, she believes
at least one could have been a natural birth.

"The burden is at the hand of us women. To know our options, to do our research, and to know when it comes to that time that you can refuse certain things. That you do have the consent, you can choose," said Todd.

The group called Monday's event a rally for awareness and not a protest of Peoria's hospitals.
