PEORIA, Ill. -- A team of volunteers and local medical providers wants you to know that you can be proactive about your breast health regardless of whether you have insurance or not.
Angela Wilcox was heartbroken when her cousin was diagnosed with breast cancer.
In gratitude for her recovery, Wilcox answered the call to serve on a committee organizing a Mammogram-A-Thon.
It is a community-wide effort to get as many Peoria-area women as possible screened on July 11.
"We want people to know that there is help available. Every woman should be checked," said Angela.
The Mammogram-A-Thon takes place on July 11 at the OSF Center for Health and the Methodist Mobile Mammography unit parked at the Carver Center.
Today is the 25th of the month. So don't forget to do your breast self-exam and remind a friend to do the same.
