As the baby-boomer generation reaches retirement age and obesity continues to be a growing national concern, the number of joint-replacement surgeries is on the rise. Nearly 26-million people in the United States have diabetes, including nearly 1 in every 400 children and adolescents. For many with juvenile diabetes (those requiring daily insulin injections) the disease’s onset is out of their control. Is there a way to help your child NOT become one of the statistics? What are the symptoms you should be watching for? If your child has already been diagnosed with diabetes, how do you help them manage the disease and live an active lifestyle? Join us for Docs on Call Monday, March 5 at 6:30 PM when Pediatric Endocrinologists from Children’s Hospital of Illinois take your calls and answer your questions about juvenile diabetes.    Ask a Question

Vascular disease is a condition in which arteries become blocked with plaque—a build-up of cholesterol and fatty material. Each year, about one person in every 25 will seek medical help for a "sports" injury, but not all of those injuries are sustained while playing sports. Any repetitive physical activity, even walking, can injure muscles and joints. People who participate in sports are more likely than others of the same age to have muscle and tendon injuries and bone fractures. This certainly doesn't mean you should avoid sports - the health benefits far outweigh the cost in terms of sports injuries. You don’t have to be a professional athlete to seek help from a sports medicine professional. Join Methodist Medical Group Sports Medicine Physicians on August 9 at 6:30 p.m. on WEEK-TV for a wide-ranging discussion of sports injuries, how to treat them and how to prevent them. Dr. Chris Miles of Methodist Medical Group at Washington and Dr. Jill Wirth of Methodist Medical Group at Peartree will answer your questions live and Dr. Brandon Bockewitz will provide answers to your questions live on-line by going to .     Ask a Question
