Married women 28 percent less likely to die of heart disease

PEORIA, Ill. -- Marriage may do more for your health than you think.

Women who are married or living with a partner are 28 percent less likely to die of heart disease than unmarried women.

Researchers aren't certain why marriage affects survival.

Studies suggest these women may be encouraged by their partners to seek early medical treatment, take medications and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
