Additional tax could be added to proposed sports complex

PEORIA, Ill. -- The city council will vote next month on a plan to tack an extra tax on the proposed Louisville Slugger Sports Complex and hotels around it, including the new Holiday Inn.

The city would deem that location a special service area.

That means there would be additional property tax, hotel tax and sales tax to the sports facilities and hotels.

This tax will be used to help pay-off the $9.6 million the city is paying to help build the complex.

The vote on these ordinances is scheduled for May 27.
