CREVE COEUR, Ill. -- A World War II veteran was honored in Creve Coeur Friday evening.

Area Bikers and servicemen presented Ben Piercy with flags and various items to replace medals that were stolen from him.

The medals were taken from the 85 year old Piercy in February when two people broke into his house, beat him and stole several items.

Local Patriot Guard Riders organized the show of support and say that being a veteran is about protecting one another.

Scott Warner, Ride Captain with the Patriot Guard said, "We wanted to protect him, that's what Patriot Guard Riders and other veterans do. We stand for those who stand for us. We wanted to be there for him and we will be there for him, for whatever he needs from this point forward, because he was there for us.

Piercy says he feels wanted and thanks the wonderful people who were there to support him.
