WHITESIDE COUNTY -- The attorney for convicted killer Nicholas Sheley says Sheley deserves a new trial.

Attorney Jeremy Karlin's motion says there were 89 judicial errors during the trial in Whiteside County, including not moving the trial out of the county.

Sheley was convicted of the killing of 93-year-old Russell Reed of Sterling, Illinois.

Sheley is to be sentenced later this month, on the same day that his appeal is to be heard.

Sheley faces another sentence of life without parole, but that is what he's already serving for the killing of Galesburg resident Ronald Randall.

He still faces charges in Missouri, where he could face the death penalty.
