PEORIA, Ill -- Authorities in Peoria are hoping an autopsy planned for Friday afternoon will shed some light on what led to the death of an infant Thursday.
Four month old Amarion Simmons was pronounced dead at Children's Hospital of Illinois Thursday afternoon.
Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says Simmons was brought to the hospital on Wednesday morning after his father, Isaac Simmons, says he found the child unresponsive in an adult bed.
Simmons brought his son to the hospital by private vehicle. Peoria Police are investigating the death as suspicious.
Ingersoll says there were no visible signs of injury to the boy.
Ingersoll says the autopsy is expected to determine a cause of death.
